Health Care Incentive Program (HCIP)
Our Child and Family Services Program operates out of the Cattaraugus Community Health and Wellness Center on our Cattaraugus territory. We also offer all aspects of this program at our Lionel R. John Health Center on the Allegany territory on a full time basis. Our mission is to strengthen the family units within our Seneca communities, doing so while preserving the traditions and beliefs of our people.

Child and Family services of the Seneca Nation is the official agency responsible for protecting the safety and well-being of our native children. This program works to prevent and/or correct such problems as child abuse, spousal abuse, neglect and family dysfunction.

Education and awareness are very important steps toward prevention of these problems. We offer parenting classes and support groups for foster parents, single parents and full family units. We strive to prevent out of home placement of Native children and plan for the return home of the children that are in placement. We work with clients in crisis, by assisting them with treatment plans, providing case management services and we also work to provide native families with assistance if they become involved with county or state agencies. We provide violence education of adolescents and adults, we give instruction on fetal alcohol awareness and teach families about child abuse and neglect. We assist clients with school meeting for their children, protective custody hearings, court ordered social studies, and after care treatment plans for adolescents released from drug and alcohol treatment facilities. This unit also provides referrals to other sources such as counseling, medical care, vocational training, education and/or tribal advocates. We provide a refuge for battered spouses and families in crisis. We also encourage healthy family activities through “Family Fun Nights”

We here at the Seneca Nation Child and Family Services Department care for our clients with the utmost respect and compassion. If you or someone you know could use our help, please feel free to call. Allegany territory - (716) 945-5894 or on the Cattaraugus territory - (716) 532-4093.

“Call it a clan, call it a network, call it a tribe, call it a family. Whatever you call it and whoever you are, you need one.” Jane Howard
