Peer Recovery Advocate (FT)

Job Description:

Peer Recovery Advocate will provide direct services to community members struggling with substance use and behavioral health concerns. Incumbent will promote recovery and aid individuals with overcoming barriers and obstacles to recovery. Will serve as a personal guide, and mentor for people seeking recovery. Serve as a role models for recipients and educate recipients about self-help techniques and group process; teach them effective coping strategies, sometimes based on personal experience; assist in clarifying goals for rehabilitation and recovery; and help them develop support systems. Peer Recovery Advocates model competence and the possibility of recovery, and assist recipients in developing the perspectives and skills that facilitate recovery.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalency. Knowledge of the Recovery process and the ability to facilitate recovery using established standardized process. Knowledge and skill to teach and engage in basic problem solving strategies to support individual clients in self-directed recovery. Knowledge of the signs and symptoms of substance use disorder and mental illness and the ability to assist the client to address symptoms using strategies such as positive self-talk. Knowledge and skill sufficient to use community resources necessary for independent living and ability to teach those skills to other individuals. May accompany clients to community resources to assist them in accessing these resources. Knowledge of how to establish and sustain self-help (mutual-support) and educational groups by soliciting input from the consumers on their strengths and interests. A valid driver’s license and ability to operate a Nation vehicle is required as some driving and/or transportation may be required to take clients to medical appointments, job sites, social activities and other community resources. Will obtain certification as a Certified Recovery Peer Advocate within 12 months of employment.

 

Clinical Nurse RN (FT)

Job Description:

Provides professional care for assigned patients in medical clinic, according to established standards and practices. Reports directly to Clinical Nurse Supervisor.

Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Registered Nurse Program, current New York State license and 2 years of clinical nursing experience. REQUIRED ABILITIES: Able to perform required duties with limited supervision. Appropriate communication skills.

 

Helpdesk/PC Specialist (FT)

Job Description:

Provides support to end-users. Identifies, researches, and resolves technical problems, according to policies. Responds to technical support calls, documents, tracks, and monitors issues. Reports to the IT Director/Engineer

Qualifications:

Must possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university with two years related experience and/or training: or 6 years equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have strong customer service, communication skills and knowledge base of IT Systems related to IT Operation. Must understand Microsoft Office and have a good working knowledge of desktop hardware support, A+ Certification, Centricity, and Citrix skills a plus.

 

Dental Hygienist II (FT)

Job Description:

Under the direction of the Clinical Dental Officer, the incumbent performs oral prophylaxis in the prevention of or protective treatment of oral disease. Reports directly to Clinical Dental Officer.

Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited dental hygiene program and NYS licensing as a Dental Hygienist. Five years experience preferred. Must pass a pre-employment drug screen in accordance with the Drug, Alcohol and Controlled Substance Abuse policy. Background check may also be required.

 

Driver II (FT)

Job Description:

The incumbent ensures that safe transportation is provided to SNHD patients. Reports directly to HOPE Unit Coordinator.

Qualifications:

Valid N.Y.S. Driver’s license, no violations. Minimum age of 21 years due to insurance requirements. Able to communicate with the public. Must have CDL with passenger endorsement. Knowledge of vehicle maintenance and its operation. Must be able to work flexible hours.

Health Information Assistant (1 FT)

Job Description:

Provides health information and support services to the Seneca Nation Health System for the delivery of patient care and associated healthcare services. Ensures the integrity of the electronic medical record and monitors documentation. Processes requests for protected health information (PHI) according to accepted privacy and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards. Reports directly to the Health Information Manager.

Qualifications:

High School Graduate or equivalent. Completion of an Associate’s Degree in Health Information Technology highly desired, with at least two years experience in a health information management department. Must be knowledgeable in medical terminology, medico-legal processes, anatomy and physiology, and release of information. Must have thorough knowledge of computer software and electronic medical records programs.

 

Addiction Counselor (1 FT)

Job Description:

Responsible for counseling and motivating clients suffering from the abuse of alcohol and other addictions on both reservations according to the guidelines of the Seneca Nation of Indians policy and procedures. Knowledgeable in the concepts related to: cultural, medical and social factors influencing the lives of persons who are suffering from alcohol or substance abuse and their families; interviewing practices and procedures; dealing with community organizations and agencies serving clients suffering from substance and alcohol abuse; communicating the goals of the treatment program to clients, other agencies and the public and to stimulate their interest; establishing and maintaining effective interpersonal relationships; the preparation of necessary written material.

Qualifications:

Master’s Degree in Education, Psychology, Social Work or related field with CASAC and/or four (4) years experience in substance abuse counseling or A. Graduate from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Bachelor’s degree which shall have included or been supplemented by credit hours in sociology, psychology, education or human services and satisfactory para-professional counseling experience with an accredited substance abuse agency and/or CASAC, or; B. Completion of 60 semester credit hours at a regionally accredited or New York State college or university which shall have included or been supplemented by credit hours in sociology, psychology, education or human services and satisfactory para-professional counseling experience with an accredited agency, with experience in substance abuse counseling and/or CASAC or; C. An approved equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of A through C.

 

Environmental Services Attendant (1 FT)

Job Description:

Under the direction of the Facilities Manager, the incumbent performs a variety of cleaning and service tasks to maintain the health centers in a sanitary, orderly, and attractive condition.

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent. Six (6) months of previous healthcare or other industrial cleaning experience preferred Usually works in well-lighted, well-ventilated heated areas. May work outside. Exposed to harsh detergent solutions, dirt, dust, trash, unpleasant odors and all patient elements. Extensive standing and walking, pushing, considerable reaching, stooping, kneeling and crouching. Subject to injury from moving parts of equipment and falls from ladders. Exposed to various infections and diseases.
