Job Title: Addiction Counselor (1 FT)
Location: Community Health and Wellness Center - Irving, NY

Basic Function: 

Responsible for counseling and motivating clients suffering from the abuse of alcohol and other addictions on both reservations according to the guidelines of the Seneca Nation of Indians policy and procedures. Knowledgeable in the concepts related to: cultural, medical and social factors influencing the lives of persons who are suffering from alcohol or substance abuse and their families; interviewing practices and procedures; dealing with community organizations and agencies serving clients suffering from substance and alcohol abuse; communicating the goals of the treatment program to clients, other agencies and the public and to stimulate their interest; establishing and maintaining effective interpersonal relationships; the preparation of necessary written material.

Desired Qualifications:

Master’s Degree in Education, Psychology, Social Work or related field with CASAC, or other QHP licensure.

Minimum Qualifications:

A. Graduate from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Bachelor’s degree which shall have included or been supplemented by credit hours in sociology, psychology, education or human services and satisfactory para-professional counseling experience with an accredited substance abuse agency and CASAC, or;

B. Completion of 60 semester credit hours at a regionally accredited or New York State college or university which shall have included or been supplemented by credit hours in sociology, psychology, education or human services and satisfactory para-professional counseling experience with an accredited agency, with experience in substance abuse counseling and CASAC. Candidates who possess credentialing from other states or agencies for which New York maintains reciprocity will be approved. CASAC-T will be considered.

Basic Function: 

Provide administrative support to the attention of the supervisor.  Assists in the development of departmental procedures, serves as liaison between staff and supervisor/department head.  Performance objectives include planning, research, communication, project coordination, record keeping, inventory management and budgeting.

Qualifications:

High school/Equivalent, 2-year degree in Office Management/Business Administration or related field preferred.  3 years’ work experience.  Must be computer proficient in word processing and spreadsheet applications.

Job Title: Child & Family Services Supervisor (1 FT)
Location: Lionel R John Health Center - Salamanca, NY

Basic Function: 

The Child & Family Supervisor provides progressive leadership in all aspects of case management and administrative work. This includes supervisory case collaboration with agency and respective County Department of Social Services. This position will provide supervisory coverage and manage the staffing of the Child Welfare Worker team to ensure the safety and well-being of children. This position will also assist in all department activities while examining ways to enhance department operations with a working knowledge of policies, procedures and day to day operational functions.

Qualifications:

This position requires a Master’s Degree in Social Work or related field or a Bachelor’s Degree in the Human Services Field with at least five years of experience child welfare supervisory experience. Experience in front-line service delivery to a Child and Family Tribal Nations Agency is preferred. Candidate must also have a strong understanding of the Indian Child Welfare Act of 1973, a sense of cultural awareness and excellent leadership and analytical skills.

Job Title: Seneca Strong - Outreach Social Worker (1 FT)
Location: Lionel R John Health Center - Salamanca, NY

Basic Function:

Incumbent will conduct initial assessment for Mental Health and Chemical dependency of an individual referred to the Outreach Team. Outreach Social worker determines the need of the individual and provides crisis intervention and connects with the needed services, which includes but is not limited to: detox and inpatient care. Will provide training and distribute Narcan as a life saving measure. Make effort to engage the individual in treatment and ensure support is provided for the family. Prioritize needs, offer options and provide information and resources to the individual. Promotes self-help, empowerment, and encourages families to seek and maintain further treatment or assistance. Will provide supervision to Peer Recovery Guides assigned to the Outreach team.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school of Social Work, Human Service field or Registered Nursing degree with five years’ experience working in the field. Preferably a Master’s degree from an accredited school with three years’ experience working in the Social work field. Thorough knowledge of social work practices, including addiction. Ability to perform culturally competent social work. Must possess good oral communication skills, as well as communications via email and telephone. Able to correctly analyze situations, including area of addiction. Valid driver’s license is required. Maintain strict confidentiality.
