Mission Statement
The mission of Family Support Services is to strengthen family units within the Seneca communities by being sensitive to the traditions and beliefs of the Seneca people.
Services offered are community-based and support the caregiver and their family. Support depends on the needs and strengths of the individual family and their goals. Family Support Services can provide assistance through self-referral or court ordered circumstances. Below are some examples of services that we provide:
- Preventative services
- Community education, outreach, & events
- Support for families in need
- Support for kinship homes
- Seneca Foster Parent Certification, support, & trainings
- Parenting classes
- Reunification planning and support
- Supervised visitation through court orders
- Case management and advocacy for children who are alleged victims of abuse and/or neglect
- Referrals: counseling, medical care, vocational training, tribal advocacy and outside resources as needed
- Collaboration with domestic violence programs: SNI Crime Victim Services, Connecting Communities in Action, Erie County Sheriffs Domestic Violence Unit
- Collaboration with Child Protective Services
- Collaboration with Tribal and County Courts
- Collaboration with Child Advocacy Centers
- Support for ICWA cases (Indian Child Welfare Act)
